boost those drums on the low end and high just a bit, then put a multiband comp at the end of the routing and increase pregain and edit with the band envelopes... that will bring out the sound a lot. i dig it tho bro!

Mix sounds dope, I would turn the pregain on the master channel. Love the production! You got some skills man

Thanks for tuning in! ♪ ♫

I don't listen to metal a lot, but I thought this was really cool. For future reference, I think your mix would sound much better with a few tweaks:
On the master channel, I would add more compression on the low band of the multiband compressor (just a hair!). Also on the master channel, I would turn the pregain down a bit. In some parts of the songs, I heard the music hitting the ceiling of the limit too hard.

A tad more high end on the kick would be cool, with a tad less low end (this may be fixed with the more compression on the low end of the multiband compressor mentioned earlier).

Less distortion on the vocals would be good, just mix it in a little less.

These are just some things I would change if I was behind the mix! Overall the mix sounds good! And if a mix sounds good, it is good (but there is always room for improvement).

Great work!

FourTHat3 responds:

Whoa, I never thought I would get a response for my mix haha, well I would like to reply to your concern on the mix.

I purposefully amplified the master volume by about 20% more than the average because I thought that it wasn't loud enough, I usually don't do this on some of my other songs and I would never mess with the master channel unless I have to. But I also noticed that it's going over the limit in about 2.0 decibels higher so I think I might've crapped on the mix a bit lol. I also haven't touched the bass boost on the izotope mastering essentials so I pretty much effed up the mix and the low-end might've dominated the mix than being balanced with the other frequencies.

Regarding the kick, I actually do not know how to fix the high-end on the bass since I put it all of the drum channels on only one channel and not seperate them because I think it sounds fine on it's own. I guess I also effed up there didn't I? Hahaha, Maybe I'll set up the kick-trigger channel more and seperate it to another channel so I can modify it later on to boost it's high-end. Alternatively, I can put 3 kick channels together and modify it on that, but I'm pretty afraid that it would sound more muddy and messy hahaha, thanks for the tip though, I really appreciate it and I'll try to incorporate that into my future songs.

As for vocals, I just used a preset (Vocal - Studio) and used the in-app distortion, (Acoustica Distortion) lowered the pre-gain a bit, have a little more distortion and set the post-gain to almost none, all while ignoring the presets on their own.

Gotta admit I'm quite lazy sometimes, but at the end of the day, I want to produce a song that's well-mixed and more sensible rather than just being loud and ignoring the mix altogether and relying on presets rather than adjusting them a little bit. I was in a pretty bad state since I wrote this song haha, but I'll try my best to improve my producing skills rather than relying on what the mixcraft has handed me and just rely on presets rather than adjusting to my liking. I'm an amateur musician and producer after all and I wanted to learn more than what I currently have, it's why I'm very thankful that I have this kind of comment, reminds me a bit of my composition teacher lol, but yeah thank you for the suggestions and wonderful comment!

I like the synths a lot! Reminds me of early 2000s VSTis. I would boost the low end of that kick, the sidechain in the mix is perfect as it is, so try to prevent a low end boost from increasing the sidechain further (if this happens, just up the sidechain tho lol). That key change at roughly 2:30 is dope! I love when songs do that.

It's dope man!!! Keep it up.

JustALunaticGuy responds:

Thanks for the feedback! i'll take that in count next time.

dope! I would turn up the vocals a bit, and increase the low end of the bass around 100hz or 60hz (try and avoid 80hz tho), and decrease the 250hz frequency on the master channel just a bit.

I like it man! I love this style and I need to listen to more of this genre!. Followed.

TSRBand responds:

Thanks for the follow! Rock on ♪

i like the sidechained super saw a lot. As you can see by the waveform, I think there is too big a jump in the dynamics. For hindsight, normalizing your music would be much more comfortable to listen to. I would bring up all the instrument levels a bit, and lessen the compression on the master channel. Sounds great though! I dig the vibe I get from this a lot man.

this reminds me of music made on the korg EMX, the one from the mid 2000s. I like it! its different.

great atmosphere, the mix is good, sounds a little muddy around 200hz IMO. I would also compress vocals more. That second hook goes hard. I love the vibe I get from this! Followed you on soundcloud.

cavequest responds:

This is the kind of feedback i really desire. Much appreciated!

sounds great! the mixing sounds great but I think there is too much high end on the master. fantastic work though!
